I picked up this book after seeing someone recommend it in a Hacker News thread about the umpteenth-Meta/Facebook privacy scandal.

Boy howdy did I have no idea how much blood is on the hands of their executives, both figuratively and literally. I have immense respect for Sarah Wynn-Willams coming forth with this memoir, and every legal action that Meta takes to censor it only proves her claims. Zuckerberg, Sandberg, and other executives truly are careless people.

But genuinely, I had to separate myself from this book, sometimes for days on end. Each event that Wynn-Williams describes is more elevated and twisted then the last. The events laid out are outright repulsive and reprehensive.

Instead of Meta/Facebook employees reading the Little Red Book, every employee should be forced to read this instead.

If you are even mildly interested in tech, please give this book a chance. You will see Meta/Facebook in a new light, and for a few hours after finishing this book I considered becoming Amish.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Must Read

This book is old enough that you can likely read it via your local library!

Also, yes, I got the idea of doing book reviews as blog posts from Terence Eden’s Blog.
